Friday 1st March
Dear parents and carers,
As you will be aware on the 12th and 13th February our school received a two day inspection by Ofsted.
I am extremely pleased to be able to inform you that OFSTED judged the overall effectiveness of Palmers Cross to be a GOOD school. There are many excellent comments within the report, showing that in all the areas of the school which were inspected have been judged to be Good.
Over recent years, the school has been on a journey of improvement leading up to this inspection and we will of course continue on this journey in the future. Ofsted recognised that ‘Leaders have brought about many improvements to the school. Since the school reopened as an academy, the curriculum, quality of teaching and pupils’ behaviour have served to lift academic standards and improve school life’.
Over the two days, the inspectors took the time to regularly visit classrooms where they saw that ‘across the school teaching is good…teachers offer lots of encouragement to spur pupils on’.
They were particularly impressed with the pupils and their behaviour, commenting that ‘pupils are attentive to their teachers and friendly to one another’.
Your children were fantastic during the inspection and on behalf of all the staff I would like to say how proud we are of them all. Thank you to all our families who have supported us over the years and continue to do so now. I would also like to thank all the staff for their hard work and commitment to the school; together our school community is what makes us a truly ‘good’ school! I feel sure that Mrs Dollery (with whom the journey began), our chair of governors, Mr Brown and Mr Grayson will also want to celebrate this result with us, and would like me to pass on their thanks to you all also.
Thank you once again for your continued support and we look forward to improving even further in the future. A wonderful result for all!
Miss S Collett
